Eric B. Barnes, Managing Attorney
Eric Barnes obtained his Bachelor’s in Political Science in 1992, and his Juris Doctorate in 1995 from Brigham Young University. He is the owner of The ElderCare Law Firm, and has devoted his practice solely to Elder Law and Estate Planning since 2004, with special expertise in asset protection from the cost of long-term care. He is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) where he serves on their Veterans Task Force, assisting in the interpretation and application of new VA law, and as Co-Chair of the Practice Development/Practice Management Steering Committee. Mr. Barnes is one of only two attorneys in Utah certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF.org). He speaks frequently on elder law topics both locally and nationally. He was the first full-term Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Utah State Bar when it was formed back in 2010. On a personal note, Mr. Barnes is an avid road and mountain cyclist, a skier, and a dirt bike enthusiast. Mr. Barnes has been married for 34 years, and has 5 children, 5 granddaughters.
